
I was pleased to contribute to the development and publication of a novel real-time intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)–guided technique for the treatment of ostial coronary artery disease, published in JACC: Case Reports.
Accurate stent positioning at the origin of a coronary artery is one of the most technically demanding aspects of coronary intervention. The Real-Time IVUS-Guided (RTIG) technique enables the operator to visualise the true coronary ostium during stent deployment, improving precision and helping to reduce the risk of geographic miss.
Innovation, research and education are central to my clinical practice. Collaborating with international colleagues to develop practical techniques that can be adopted by interventional cardiologists worldwide is an important part of advancing patient care and improving outcomes for complex coronary procedures.
