
Ostial coronary lesions are among the most technically demanding procedures in interventional cardiology. Even a difference of a millimetre in stent positioning can affect long-term outcomes and future coronary access.
I was pleased to collaborate with colleagues from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia in developing and publishing the Fluoroscopic IVUS X-mark IT (FIX-IT) technique. This image-guided approach uses intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) to accurately identify the true coronary ostium and translate that position onto fluoroscopy, helping operators achieve more precise stent placement.
Advancing coronary intervention through research and collaboration is an important part of my practice. By contributing to practical techniques that can be adopted by interventional cardiologists around the world, I hope to support safer, more precise procedures and better outcomes for patients.
